FAQs

About

SystemsWayConsulting consulting is grounded in Systems Philosophy where we do not believe in coming up with solutions that makes sense to you because that's easy. We rather take on a very hard job of questioning and developing your understanding. With improved understanding when you start to see the world differently, not only your problem definition would change, you can come up with solution yourself too which mean you can constnatly adjust solution as your reality changes around you. We are fully equipped to help with cost cutting but we are not interested in that kind of work. We are interested in helping companies create value and eliminate waste because that eliminates the need for constant and cyclic cost cutting.

Offerings

Individual and Group Coaching

Coaching is primarily at individual and small group level. In coaching, we work from outside of the company. People bring organizational problem or concern, solution to a coach. The coach has no understanding of the specific system to which problem or concern belongs to. Coach ask questions to the client and refute when answer does not make sense and therefore drives better development of understanding. When answer does make sense , coach work with client to connect the dots differently to develop better explanations of systemic behaviors allowing clients to solve problem from perspective they have did not consider.

Corporate Consulting

In consulting an officer of company wants us to understanding their systems and educate them on systemic problems and potential solutions to those problem. Unlike coaching where we work from outside the corporation, in consulting we get inside the corporation,  talk to diverse sets of people, dig into different information sources and try to gauge the mental models of people that led to development of current systems.  Once we develop the understanding of the current system and mental model of people, we come up with good explanation for managers to see system differently so that they  can solve and at times dissolve the problems.

TESTIMONIALS

Maria Mileder

Sr. Manager, Learning and Development @PayPal

I highly recommend Manish Jain’s Systems Thinking Workshop for its engaging curriculum and thought-provoking challenges and its value in promoting systems thinking as a crucial tool for innovation in a company. By learning to approach issues from a systems perspective, attendees can break down silos and see the interconnectedness of all aspects of a business. This mindset leads to more effective problem-solving and a greater ability to become change-makers within their organization....Once you’ve gone through this workshop, you can no longer ignore ineffective systems. Manish is a true thinker and an excellent and incredibly applied teacher. He lives and breathes systems thinking, bringing value to every conversation and interaction. I highly recommend Manish’s workshop(s) to anyone looking to expand their knowledge and understanding of systems thinking and its value in driving change.

.... met Manish in his Systems Thinking Workshop ... no other external source has had a more profound impact on the way I think or act. He has done so simply through debate, discourse and dialogue...Workshop that Manish created and runs is incredibly engaging...I left this workshop with a new set of theoretical tools that I can use to tackle any problem, a rekindled passion to pursue my purpose and goals, ... take a more active approach to solving or dissolving problems in my personal and professional life. I know Manish has had a similar impact on other people... I consider myself very lucky to know him

.... I was prepared for an eventful hands-on training. But what I got was a minds-on training. He literally made all who attended to pause and think. He made us realize, with undeniable scientific evidence, that we have been doing so many things wrong, not just at professional life but also in personal life. He set us up in a trajectory, to gain infinite knowledge and my life changed after that.

I have seen him influence, coach and challenge people across the organization, across all levels. I have seen collogues who transformed because of him and solve complex systemic problems. He understands how organizations work. He understands how the world works.  Manish is one of a kind and I know he will one day make a larger impact in the whole world for the better. I am so glad that I got me meet him and I recommend his training to everyone.

Maria Collins

Director, Office of CTO @PayPal

...I had the profound opportunity to attend Systems Thinking Workshop and learn from Manish...truly grateful for opportunity to review and reflect on my mental models and develop a little more Systems Thinking Awareness. Manish has craftily created a curriculum that re-enables one’s ability to THINK. I understand that it takes years to truly become a skilled systems thinker. I know that I must first focus inward to fix myself and take responsibility to observe the signals and systems around me. I am to specify the problem statement, develop a mental model and collaborate with others who will refute and thus refine that model, and forever strike “unintended side-effects” from my vocabulary. Of course, it is not that simple, and I now have a brighter path to knowledge and understanding before me. I highly recommend Manish Jain and his systems thinking workshop. It is well worth your time and effort.

Beware of engaging in conversation with Manish! He is one of the best bulls**t detectors I have encountered in my life. His ability to refute and cut through the nonsense to get to the root of the issue is remarkable.

What does SystemsWay coaching entails ?

Coaching is primarily at individual and small group level. In coaching, people bring a personal or organizational problem or concern, decision to a coach. The coach has no understanding of the specific system to which problem or concern belongs to. Coach ask questions to the client to develop the understanding of the system. Two distinct situation or some combination of of the two arises .

First,  in the  process of coaching client  realize that their understanding of system is limited and incomplete and therefore their problem statement, concern or solution are probably wrong. Clients go back and try to seek better understanding and further engage in coaching.

Second, When client has good understanding of the system,  coach try to refute and challenage clients explanation of problem and solution and clients defends that refutations. If coach succeeds in refuting client benefits by learning that their problem statement or solution is wrong. Coach then provides pointer where client can learn about how to approach problem definition and solution. If they successfully defend the refutation, they have higher confidence in their problem statement and solution.

Coaching is fundamentally to improve efficacy of managers who are responsible for managing and designing organizational systems.

What does SystemsWay consulting entails ?

Consulting is primarily when a corporation engages with us and officer of company who is representing the corproation wants us to understanding their systems and educate them on systemic problems and potential solutions to those problem. Unlike in coaching, in consulting we talk to diverse sets of people, digg into different information sources and never take any information at it's face value. Once we develop the understanding of the current system, we come up with good explanation for managers to understand on how structure of the system and problems are fully congurent.  We then in conjunction with client try to come up with intervention strategies in the system.  So in consulting, we  improve clients understanding of their own systems and provide systemic solutions to improve efficacy of whole systems. Clients get three primary value from our consulting. Firstly, stopping project because they are convinced these projects will no yield any benefits to system improvement saving millions, secondly implement solutions which seems counter intutive but are effective, thirdly clients continues to stop non-systemic solution and come up with their own solution. Consulting involve a much deeper, long term engagement with not one coach but entire SystemsWay team comprised of multiple people..
