Humans have been cultivating philosophy for centuries and several school teaches them. But we nearly have nothing common with what philosophy they teach and how they teach it. Here we discuss three primary differences, you can experience several secondary differences when you attend the SystemsWay Philosophy course.
First, In most schools, philosophy is a separate department like management, engineering, medicine, architecture etc. In those schools, Philosophy is only for those who aspire to be theoretical and intellectual philosophers. Other folks need not take classes in philosophy because academic institution do not see any use of philosophy for other professional. SystemsWay find that very alarming and also believe that root cause of much of the organizational and societal problem stems not from proliferation social media and technology but not making philosophy as the based of study in schools, collegiate and management studies. If Philosophy is love of knowledge, and if philosophy allows one to separate knowledge from pseudo-knowledge, non-sense and sense making non-sense, it has to be basis on which every and knowledge has to be acquired, be it engineering, medicine, management. No wonder when we are put into complex, dynamic and evolving environment we struggle because we have no method in our arsenal to separate sense from non-sense and much worse sense making non-sense . At SystemsWay, philosophy is central. It's requisite. Without a good philosophy, how you even know if what we are imparting knowledge or pseudo-knowlege, non-sense and sense making non-sense.
Second, most schools in philosophy teach the history of philosophy. They teach philosophy of Artistotal, Plato, Kant, etc. At times they ask abstract questions like " what does artistoal mean when he said bla". The teacher do not provide any answers or do not judge a philosophy as good, bad. They believe let student figure out their philosophy as part of intellectual pursuite. This provides little or no value to most people. Because of this anything goes most people are more philosophically lost than enlightened. No wonder general society treats philosophers as who does no do any productive work and only engages in never ending, non-sense discussion which many term it as inteelectural masterbation to signify how useless it's for general public who have to live in real world, make decision and lead the world forward.
As SystemsWay, we are not interested in teaching history of philosophy and philosophy of Aristotle, Plato etc. They have proven not only to be wrong, they happen to be be very bad philosophy. We are not interesting in disillusioning question about god, purpose of life. We are interested in only two things. Each of you have a philosophy from which all your decision unfolds. We want to make the philosophy explicit so you can understnad the power and limitation of that philosophy and expose you to a recent and mdoern Systems Philosophy which we try to make a case allows one to develop better understanding of the world and therefore allows you design and intervene in the systems so creates higher chances for systems to give the result it gives.
Thirdly, our Systems Philosophy course has a lot of theory, but those theories are not just for intellectual conversation but had profound practical application. We believe philosophy without application is mere intellectural play and application withtout good philosophy is way to scew systems specially complex systems. So this philosophy course is unlike any other course that exist.
Lastly, Our course is not some boring course devoid of reality. It's in the context of all the world you that, no wonder we despite advice of all wise people , we made it the core course and people love it because what you get here is not some theoritically philosophy but applied philosophy, applied in your life, work and the way you operate in society.
We firmly believe that philosophy should be the foundation of every educational institution. Without a solid philosophical framework, the knowledge built upon it may crumble. That's why, at SystemsWay, we prioritize teaching philosophy explicitly.
